/ Avatar Identity &Personalization System
I helped expand a large-scale avatar personalization system to support broader identity, style, and seasonal self-expression. The work connected user insight, beauty and fashion references, modular asset design, and technical rendering constraints to create more expressive, shareable avatars.
The Challenge
The existing avatar system needed to support more authentic and playful self-expression across a global user base. The challenge was to expand representation and styling range while maintaining a cohesive visual system that could scale across faces, colors, makeup, seasonal themes, and real-time rendering constraints.
Beauty & Style Research
I translated beauty, fashion, makeup, and seasonal styling references into avatar-friendly visual rules. The goal was not to copy real-world trends directly, but to adapt them into a stylized system that felt expressive, inclusive, and technically scalable.
On-Avatar Translation
I explored how references translated onto stylized avatar faces through color, placement, contrast, and readability. This included defining approaches for face painting, makeup layers, and color-to-grayscale mapping so the final assets remained consistent across different face shapes and UV topologies.
Shipped Impact & Recognition
The personalization work was included in public launch coverage for seasonal avatar updates, highlighting expanded makeup, hair color, face painting, and themed customization. The work helped position avatar personalization as a driver of identity, seasonal engagement, and social sharing.
